Hello there. I am Veronica. I live in Dayton, Ohio with my husband. I am a Malaysian of Chinese descent and my husband is a Japanese. We lived together in Japan for 2 years before moving to the States. The short stay in Japan gave me an insight into a culture much different from mine and has been an exciting journey. Throughout my stay, I learn the skills and ingredients used in Japanese cooking mainly through TV food shows, my in-laws and friends. I also hosted cooking classes teaching Malaysian food and my culture to the Japanese community.
Cooking has always intrigue me and been a part of me. I attended culinary classes in my college year as part of my Hotel Management course. And I completed two courses at The Wilton Method of Cake Decorating when I was working in the corporate world. However, I never once pipe buttercream icing onto a cake and neither do I cover a cake with fondant after completion of the courses. Let’s just say that I prefer less sugar-coated cakes 😉 However, it is through constant practice in my own kitchen that I gained the most experiences.
Cooking has gradually transform my view towards health and nutrition. In any way possible, I strive to use ingredients of better quality with natural colorings and free from preservatives, locally source produces and cook from scratch.
So, wHaT iS THIS SITE AbOuT?
is about sharing recipes which are greatly influenced by my origin and partially from my husband’s preference. It is an unending quest to explore new recipes and develop new ones. I will also do some write-ups on food during my travels.
All in all, I hope you enjoy my write-ups and trying out the recipes.
